Frequently Asked Questions Concerning Residence Life
What do students need to bring when they move in? You will need:
- Bed linens, curtains, and towels
- Dishware, silverware, pots and pans
- Alarm clock, hair dryer and other personal items
- Kitchen supplies such as paper towels, cleaners, etc.
Optional:
- Stereos, television sets, microwave ovens, computers
Students moving into the residence halls for the fall semester will receive their housing assignment in August. You will then be able to communicate with those who will be sharing your apartment or townhouse about what each one is bringing.
Will my friends be able to visit? Yes. Visitors must sign in at the guardhouse, leave a photo ID (preferably a driver's license), and be at least 18 years of age. The ID may be picked up from security upon departure from the campus. Students are allowed one overnight guest per person in each room. On week-nights the curfew is 1:00 am. There is no curfew on weekends.
Are freshmen allowed to have cars on campus? Yes. All students are allowed to have cars on campus. Ample free parking is available.
What determines my residence hall assignment? Students are sent a housing application form when they pay their housing deposits. The Dean of Student Life assigns housing for incoming students in July and attempts to honor student preference based on the date of the deposit.
What eating facilities are available on campus? Most resident students prepare their own food and eat in their apartment kitchens. There is a campus café with vending machines in Founders Hall.
